An Iron Bowl Engagement Celebration

Iron Bowl 2011 - November 26, 2011

We are so blessed to have such amazing friends and family to celebrate our engagement.

The Future Mr & Mrs McDonald

Thanksgiving 2011, my first trip to the McDonald Family thanksgiving in Columbus. We had a wonderful time at Mama Mitch's house. Of course we had to take pictures after we ate and before everyone left. So we ventured to the front door, while taking pictures Jon's sister was joking around saying "this can be ya'll's engagement picture so Jon smile" Not to mention that Mrs. Jeanie had made Jon and I take like 6 pictures already inside trying to work on Jon's smile haha Anyways we all started laughing at Allison's comment. (little did i know at the time). So thanksgiving at the McDonalds was over and Jon and I were heading back to Auburn for me to get my car so I could go home to Lake Martin and spend Thanksgiving evening with my parents. With it being the week of the Iron Bowl, Tailgating had been on Jon's mind all week. Making things even more exciting ESPN gameday had chosen to come to Auburn for the game. With all of their set, Jon was concerned that his tailgating spot would be taken by someone else, so all week leading up to thanksgiving day we had been riding around campus trying to see what the ESPN set looked like and where everyone that normally tailgates around there were moving to. So on Thanksgiving when he said on the way to Auburn "Let's go see the ESPN site and see where they have moved the other tailgaters"  I really didnt think anything of it. It wasnt until he said "why dont we just walk through campus instead of riding around it" did I get a little suspicious but I quickly took the thought of anything happening out of my head because we had just talked a few weeks prior that it just wasn't going to happen right now, both of my sisters are pregnant and there just isn't the money floating around for anything sparkly to fit on my hand. So we parked at Toomer's Corner. Got Molly (our black lab) out of the truck and on her leash and we began walking towards Samford Hall. (Jon wasnt even holding my hand or walking at my pace or anything, so I knew there was NOTHING going on) We walked up to the Seal ( where he asked me to be his girlfriend )and passed it going behind Samford towards the Cater Lawn because we were both sure that that would be the location of the tailgaters. Well when we didnt see anything Jon wanted to turn around and head back (Short walk huh?) So we turned back and came up the Thach side of Samford, walking in front of the building and back towards the seal. When we got to the Seal, Molly almost stepped on the Seal so we started joking and laughing that she would find a boy dog and all with the story of the Seal being that if you step on it you won't find love. So I then turned to continue walking towards the truck when Jon called my name, so I turned around to find Him on his knee. I gasped!!! In complete shock with what I was seeing, With no words coming out of my mouth Jon asked me to marry him. Crying like a baby I asked if he was serious and he said yes still with no words coming out of me I knodded. He pulled me closer to him and asked if he could put it on and I got YES out of me. So with the ring on and giving my future Husband a kiss the Samford Clock tower struck 3 o'clock ! it was perfect!!!!
I am so excited about marrying my best friend and the one who has stolen my heart!!
I can't wait to be MRS TAYLOR MCDONALD!!

So Save the date -- July 7, 2012 -- as of today we are 200 days away!!!!!!!

Easter 2011

It was such a wonderful Easter! Jon and I spent the first part of the weekend in Columbus with his family. We had a wonderful time hanging out by the pool and spending time with everyone. There was a great message today at Wynnbrook Baptist in Columbus. I throughly enjoyed it. The relationship between the three crosses and our own walks with the Lord were so wonderfully portrayed. After lunch with the McDonald clan we made our way to Lake Martin for the annual Abernathy Easter Egg hunt. We had a great turn out of little ones to chase those eggs. They even got a little help with the ones up high. The afternoon was perfect relaxing by the water. Molly and the puppies even made the trip!
I am looking forward to many more wonderful holidays!

Columbia IDC

So if you havent been to Columbia, SC I highly suggest it. It was beautiful there. While there you have to visit the campus of USC. Though I am an Auburn Fan and I LOVE the plains. The Gamecocks have got a lovely campus with old town charm. It was so pleasant, probably because it was spring break for the students but still a Great college campus to visit!
Compeition..... well just say those kids love to dance.
